Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Wedding PhotographyNow wait just a minute - do I see a green and gold stadium here? I thought we lived in Colorado! Why, yes you do. Since I am a recent transplant to Colorado Springs, I thought I'd showcase a recent wedding that I shot in my hometown of Green Bay at the Packers stadium.  It's always a great venue to shoot a wedding, whether you're a Packers fan or not.  Sam and Josh, while not huge die-hard fans, loved the idea of having their wedding here. There is so much space for guests and the cocktail hour / reception area is amazing. And to have the opportunity to be in the bowl, down by the field and in the tunnel - well, they had a fantastic time of it. As ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

High School Senior PhotographyEvery high school senior has their own unique take on their portrait session. That's one of the reasons I love doing them. It's always different. Adam was such a great senior to photograph. He was into his session as much as I was. We planned on a three hour session with some specific locations. He came with a trunk full of clothing options and we scheduled for plenty of time to get it all done. Not only did we hit the specific locations we planned for, we stopped along the way at different spots while we were driving. Buddy ShotsI always encourage my seniors to bring a parent, friend or both. Adam wanted his mom to be in his buddy shot. They have had ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Pre-Ceremony First LookThere are two schools of thought regarding a first look between a bride and groom. You're either for it or against it. No in between...except maybe for photographers.  Creating a first look between a bride and groom has several benefits for both a wedding photographer and the couple. For one, the photographer is given an opportunity to set up the first look in a creative way, which gives the photographer some amazing images to add to the couple's day. It also provides an opportunity for the couple to be alone for a few minutes near the beginning of a very hectic day. The first look provides a moment of pure happiness that can never be taken ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Amazing WeddingsLiterally I don’t even know where to start with Emily and John. It sounds cliché, but they really are an amazing couple.Kind, generous, sweet, thoughtful, driven, what else…oh yeah, survivors. You see both of them had cancer when they were younger. They didn’t know each other while they were fighting their battles, but met later at a Relay for Life run. Both of them also participated in the Make-a-Wish program and had a wish granted them. So what did they do in return? During the process of their engagement and up through their wedding, they set up a donation page for Make-a-Wish so other kids could get their wishes granted as well. It didn't stop ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Colorado Springs Senior Photography They say variety is the spice of life.I absolutely agree - especially when it comes to a High School Senior session!Lauren really took this to heart when planning her senior portrait session. She is an active athlete in her school, having volleyball and track under her belt. Lauren also wanted to have several locations to go to. This always gets me extremely excited about photographing a high school senior who is into the session as much as I am.  It made the planning and shooting of the session so much fun. Senior Portrait IdeasCollaborating with my seniors is such a fun part of what I do. I always encourage them to bring multiple changes ...
