Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Colorado Springs High School Senior PhotographyHigh school senior sessions for guys are much different than a session for girls. Different doesn't have to mean difficult or awkward, it's just different. A lot of guys get their senior portraits done because "you have to" or "Mom is making me". Other reasons might be that you're not comfortable in front of the camera, you have acne, braces, you don't know how to pose, or you just don't want to. Good news! All of those things can be taken care of! It's all about your mindset.  Creating the Mindset for the Senior SessionLook at your high school senior photography as an opportunity to document your life right now. What ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Colorado Springs Senior PhotographyLet's keep talking about tips on what to wear for your senior session. You can read the first post here.A question I always get asked right away is "How many outfits should I bring?" That is a great question. The short answer - it all depends on the length of the session. If you're doing a short, 30 minute session, two outfits is plenty. If you're doing the three hour session, I literally say bring 7-10 outfits. Why? A three hour session gives plenty of time for variety, not only in locations, but outfits. But a word of caution for any length session - the longer you take changing your outfits, the less time you will have in front of the camera. That's ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Colorado Springs Senior PortraitsKelsey is a great example of a senior who felt nervous getting her senior portraits taken. You'd never know it by looking at her images. She looks amazing! But let's be honest for a minute, not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera and that's ok. So, what if you fall into that category?  Senior Portrait ConsultationWell, the first thing I do, for every senior portrait session is meet with the senior and their parent(s). Meeting together ahead of time gives us a chance to get to know each other a bit, plan out the session, talk about clothing and locations, discuss final products, etc. This also gives opportunity for the senior (or ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

Colorado Springs Senior PhotographyYou're going to be a High School Senior! So many exciting things come to mind...but then, wait! My senior portraits need to be done! Where do I start? Lots of questions come to mind, not least of which is - "WHAT DO I WEAR?!?"Aside from "how much is this going to cost", "what do I wear" is the most important question there is when it comes to your session. What to WearYour clothing can make or break your session. You need to wear clothes that are the best version of you; not what you lay around in while binge watching your favorite show.I love what Jace selected for her outfits. The clothing she chose not only reflected her personality, but it was ...

Colorado Springs Senior - Portrait Photography - Tips for Guys

High School Senior PhotographyEvery high school senior has their own unique take on their portrait session. That's one of the reasons I love doing them. It's always different. Adam was such a great senior to photograph. He was into his session as much as I was. We planned on a three hour session with some specific locations. He came with a trunk full of clothing options and we scheduled for plenty of time to get it all done. Not only did we hit the specific locations we planned for, we stopped along the way at different spots while we were driving. Buddy ShotsI always encourage my seniors to bring a parent, friend or both. Adam wanted his mom to be in his buddy shot. They have had ...
