High school senior sessions for guys are much different than a session for girls. Different doesn't have to mean difficult or awkward, it's just different. A lot of guys get their senior portraits done because "you have to" or "Mom is making me". Other reasons might be that you're not comfortable in front of the camera,
you have acne, braces, you don't know how to pose, or you just don't want to.
Good news! All of those things can be taken care of! It's all about your mindset.
Look at your high school senior photography as an opportunity to document your life right now. What are your hobbies? Do you play sports?
Are you an artist? Do you love gaming? Do you have a car you want to showcase as well?
When we have the pre-session consultation, we can discuss what you enjoy doing and what you want to incorporate into your session.
One of the great things about life in Colorado Springs is the outdoors. There is such a variety and picking the locations you want to go to
can really get you excited about your session. Now when I say excited, I don't expect you to jump up and down for joy.
What I mean is that you are now looking forward to it as if, "Hey, this isn't going to be so bad." And I promise, it's not. Whatever session length you choose, it will be painless and you will walk away feeling great about the session. Then when you see your images, you will be thankful you put in the effort.
As for posing, don't worry, you'll be posed like a guy. I won't make you feel uncomfortable or make you do any awkward posing.
If you have acne or braces, again, don't worry, those things can be taken care of in the final images.
Jason's session wasn't very long, but you can see that the effort he put into the session really paid off. Between his trumpet, golf and soccer -
he showcased his personality and made the session what he wanted it to be.
So if you want to highlight a sport - bring all the gear, from head to toe, including any equipment.
If you're a musician, bring the instrument and if you have an outfit you wear for band or orchestra - wear it!
Something else to bring - your mom or girlfriend or a friend.
Not only can they help select your clothing options, but they can help you to relax during the session.
Dress as the best version of yourself.
If you're generally sloppy or "just don't care" what you look like, have someone help you put together a couple nice
outfits that reflect the best you, but still YOU. A clean shave or well trimmed facial hair is best.
Removing stubble that you don't want in the picture is very difficult and usually doesn't end up looking natural.

Well, hopefully that alleviates some of the anxiety around your senior session.
I promise, if you meet me half way, you'll have a great time during your Colorado Springs senior portrait session!
